Margot, Mark, Annabelle and Margo:
Great to hear from you ... Let's see, should we maybe be keeping score here between "band" posts and "choir" posts, so we can be as competitive as we used to be. Or maybe not. Clack, of course, gets full credit for getting this started. That's why it's always important to keep a bassoonist nearby.
It is so good to be in this conversation. Anybody who feels like it is welcome to e-mail me directly at mnorman@sojo.net.
Also, check out the Fisher Facebook group that Harry Binks launched.
cheers, ... mn

Sandra: We were doing the same last night, dragged out the old projector and had a trip down memory lane with BC and Europe pictures. Amazing how the names of most people came back to us, but a few we are not sure of as well. I'm sure we will recognize each other, just add some pounds and take away some hair.... See you then, Annabelle

This is wonderful! Who would have thought 30+ years could go by so quickly...I have Victoria/Vancouver, Galt, Europe pics to bring to the reunion too - Rolf, Sandra H., Annabelle & Mark - it'll be so great to see all of you again and try to catch up on the last few decades! Monique Roy and Linda Eburne are coming too. Too bad Nancy Arthur and my brother John won't be able to join in the fun - they are in Calgary and can't make the trip Anyone heard from Richard H-J, Judy and Bill Brush? Looking forward to the big weekend - any plans for a band/choir get-together?

Mark and I would be happy to host a Band and Choir reunion at our home. I have not had a good look at the schedule for the Reunion yet but I'm sure we should be able to find a few hours during the weekend when we could all get together at 14 Clarendon Ave. I have contacted a number of former band members - George Hannah, Keith Adam, Richard H-J, Judy (Stone) and Bill Brush, Kathy Neff and Andy T. If anyone reading this message still keeps in touch with any of the above please contact them and encourage them to attend! The more the merrier. MN: I think the Band is in the lead..... you'd better get busy drumming up those former choir members.

I am ready for a rousing rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus, or This is My Country (From the Atlanti-C, to the Pacifi-C). I have found a company who will turm my Super 8's into a DVD. I will make copies and post as well. I think I might even have an old audio tape or 2 of the band and choir.
Last fall I went to a choral concert. Imagine how thrilled I was when one of the pieces was composed by our own Stephan Hatfield!

We're on the same wave length! I was just talking to Sandra and we both said we could still sing the Alto to the Hallelujah chorus and I said I still knew almost all of This is My Country ... It would be so much fun to sing these songs again. Stephanie Brown

What a great response so far! I remember all you guys, although I admit I had to check yearbook photos to verify some of them. My sister Karen scanned two of the band and two of the choir group photos for me. She will be there too, I'm pretty sure.
Mark and Annabelle - great to hear from you, and that'd be great to meet at your place (everyone else ok with that? if we're going to look at photos/slides/super 8 movies and heaven knows what other old-tech images, we're going to need a place to do it!) I'll try to bring a laptop computer just in case we actually get anything already scanned (and this will definitely be the easiest way to exchange stuff). But it'd be nice to have a computer projector too. Also, my computer is old and doesn't even have a CD burner on it... But these details can be arranged next month.
Suggestion: what about Sunday afternoon? That'd give us the chance to round up any band/choir folks during the weekend who hadn't seen this forum.
Margo, can you give us Mr.D's address - or the last one you had at least? It'd be great for us to somehow contact him.
By the way, Greg and Linda Shaw also showed up someplace in the Guestbook I think.
Well, since most of us just used school instruments we won't be able to all sit down under the delusion we can still spin out Alla Barrocca or Sabredanse. Probably just as well! But if anyone has any recordings of the band music we used to play (not necessarily by us of course), bring them along!
What happened to Nancy (Arthur)? I was going to kid her about how we were doing all this for her (see her old messages) but I guess it must be pretty disappointing already to not be able to make it.
It's amazing to hear that so many people have found their photos of the trips. I know right now that it'll be great fun to see them all. And we'll have to all line up for the 2007 band/choir photo. Dennis Fletcher, make sure you bring an extra pair of (clean) underwear along...

Hey, everybody! I’m here, too!
I was driving down the Queensway the other day and saw the big reunion banner on the side of FPHS. So I checked out the Web site. What a great surprise! Thanks, Rolf, for getting this B&C forum going.
I have the greatest memories of the band room, the concerts and all those great trips. I have pictures, too – I’ll dig them out. Hey! I have pictures of one of the car washes on Island Park, and even a few from backstage before a concert!
Here’s an idea where I’ve been since those days: I left Ottawa after medical school and spent various amounts of time in Montreal, the Toronto area, and even a year each in Wakefield and Paris. I moved back to Ottawa in 2003 to take a position at the Faculty of Medicine at the U of O. It’s great to be back in this wonderful city. My wife, Alex, is a psychiatrist with the Canadian Forces and we have two boys, 11 and 9. How about the rest of you?
For the choir folks - remember my sister Helen? She did the same thing: left Ottawa for many years then moved back herself just last year. She also has 2 sons, 12 and 8. I’ll get her to log-on.
I would just love to have a reunion of that great band and choir era of the early 70's. Thanks, Mark and Annabelle, for agreeing to host (by the way, Annabelle, I did get your phone message – I’ll call you tonight).
OK, maybe not “Sabre Dance”. But how about “Plaything", "Hello Dolly", "Egmont Overture", or "Malaguena"? Mind you, I don't think my lip would last long ...
Great to hear Mr. D. is still with us. If his health is up to it, it’d be great to see him again. Anyone interested in pitching in to fly him to Ottawa for the week-end? You can get return airfare from Victoria for around $700.
It’ll be great to see everyone again!

Richard: Great to see you on the forum. Mark is currently away on work travel but will be thrilled to see all the names that are popping up.
To everyone else:
If you check out Facebook under the group Fisher Park (or become a 'friend' of Mark Richardson) we have added a picture of the Band taken in '71. Most of the band people on this forum are in the picture. We will be sure to have copies on CD for any who want it for their own photo album. Do we want to try and decide upon a day and time for our get-together? Rolf suggested Sunday but I'm wondering about those of you who are coming in from out of town. Will this cause problems for your return trip home? Let us know so that we can decide and get the word out soon.

Rolf: Don't worry about bringing a lap top or anything else. We will have a slide projector, projector TV, computer, DVD, scanner etc. all set up so that we should be able to handle any kind of contributions to the picture collection. I've already roped my sons into helping out in the IT department. Margot Lewis is getting her movie film transferred to DVD so that solves the problem with finding an old movie projector. My chore tonight is to look through all our reocrd albums (remember those) and find the one the band produced the year after I graduated - I know it's around here somewhere! Quite a few on this forum played on this record and maybe someone else will get their hands on it before I do. Be sure to bring it if you find it, I will get our turntable set up just in case.

Annabelle:
My copy of the record we made in 1974-5 is handy. If people are interested, I can see about getting it copied professionally onto a bunch of CDs. It has pieces by both the band and the choir.

Annabelle, Thanks for hosting the band/choir get together. Boy you already sound really organized!! Rolf's suggestion of Sunday afternoon works for me. I won't be driving back to Mississauga until Monday morning. Let me know if there is anything I can do/bring (besides my pictures) to help. I'm looking forward to seeing you and Mark again. Richard, It was great seeing you on the forum too! It sure is fun to read all these names from 30+ years ago. See you at the reunion! Michael, Have you drummed up any more choir members? Like Annabelle said I think the band is winning and we can't let that happen. Sandra Hilson Douglas
